Environmental health, with the necessary water allocations, is the first priority so that the system and the economies it supports can survive. Sustainable economics and development will then flow from this secure base.

The Australian Civic Trust was an early promoter of an independent management authority for the Murray-Darling Basin and is pleased to see it is now State Government policy.
A new management approach based on environmental triggers and basin-wide modeling was prepared by George Ganf et al. Many lobby groups, including Fair Water Use (Australia) have been established to support recovery strategies for the Murray.
NSW has produced a Draft Murray Regional Strategy for public comment.
